VISION 2004

Music for the Port-of-Spain Pathfinder band is either written for the marching component of the band or for a seated performance by members of the orchestra. The band is first a marching band and then an orchestra.  Over the years, our members became more adept on their instruments, and we eventually decided to start performing as an orchestra.  The benefits to avail from that decision was not know to us.  As we began practicing for seated engagements, the quality of our marching music got better. The once loud and harsh tone of the horns, as they competed against the howling of  the drums, became smooth but powerful timbre. Before long we had a marching orchestra.

Kerry Walker , our music director, is responsible for arranging the band's music.  He is assisted by an able committee  made up of people with strong skills on various instruments. However, we have not entirely ruled out our old method or arranging music;  from time to time an arrangement comes out of what we call a "Jam Session" - just playing what comes to mind and having fun while doing it.
